The players' community were surprised today by the announcement of the resignation of Nintendo's current chief, Tatsumi Kimishima who led the company during the past two years, replacing the previous chairman of the company, Satoru Iwata. The reason Kimishima stepped down from his position was due to a new administrative law within the company beginning with his step down on June 28. Kimishima is the chief of Nintendo due to the death of the former and wasn't planned to lead the company for a long time due to its age.
The new chief of the company is 46-year-old Shuntaro Furukawa who holds a number of managerial positions at Nintendo Research and Marketing and joined Nintendo in 1994, Shuntaro Furukawa is the principal external manager of Pokemon and is a senior managing director at Nintendo Research and Development and is also overseeing the global marketing department of the company.
Shuntaro Furukawa is one of the stock owners of the company and also with 100 stock. By the end of June, the new chief of Nintendo will be an "alike" for the company with its various positions.
